Fairytales don’t always work out the way you plan.

Jenn Taylor has been with her husband, Jack, since they were in college. They had a fairytale life plan. They were going to finish college, get married, and have three perfect children all two and a half years apart.

Before they knew it, the three perfect children become four not-so-perfect children. Jack and Jenn find themselves so busy keeping a handle on work and children, they don’t have the time or energy to keep the spark of romance in their marriage.

Jenn complains to her friends, who suggest she should recreate some of the scenes from her much loved romance novels and surprise her husband.

All the while, she is trying to contend with three boys who do not know how to stay out of trouble and an environmentally and socially conscious daughter who is trying to become a vegan.

Is her marriage doomed to stay in a rut forever, or will she finally succeed in bringing the romance back?

This book is hilarious! I must admit, this came as another surprise, because the book's hero is not the typical alpha male, there aren't any steamy scenes (just attempts at steamy encounters that have hilarious - and sometimes heartwarming - endings), and the heroine does not have a tragic past - and yet I enjoyed it. I love that they've been together a long time. I love the acknowledgement that a "happy ending" does not mean endless days filled with burning passion. I love that they love each other in a realistic way - sure, they can get on each other's nerves sometimes, but they always, always have each other's backs. I love it, and I can't wait to read it again.

Love by the Book edition by Angela Scavone Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This book had a definite sense of humor. Jenn the wife in the story feels her marriage is in a rut and tries to spice things up by reenacting scenes from her favorite romance novels. Needless to say jinx ensue. The concept was good and the I did find myself laughing. My only complaint was that it did seem to drag on a bit.
I started laughing from the first page. Love by the Book is a wonderful, lighthearted, funny story of a happily married couple (Jack and Jenn) trying to bring the 'spark' back into their marriage. With four children, and the husband's very demanding job, it's not an easy feat. What Jenn goes through to try to re-ignite that spark will keep you laughing for days.

This is definitely a book you don't want to miss.
This is one of my favorite love stories to date. It reminds me that love comes in all forms. This book definitely made me believe in happily ever after. Happy reading!
Love by the Book is a hilarious contemporary romance that will keep you laughing throughout. In her debut novel Ms Scavone created endearing and believable characters confronted by life situations and choices that most of us face. The trials and tribulations with in-laws may hit close to home with some. If you are looking for a fun read, Love by the Book is a great choice.

I love romance novels about complicated families. I can so relate to how raising kids is tough on the love life and challenges the whole notion of marital bliss. This couple gets it all right early, and then suffers from their accomplishments. Four kids and a mortgage later, where's the time for romance? You'll laugh and you'll cry, but Love by the Book by Angela Scavone will make you believe happily ever after is for everyone, not just those blessed double income no kids folks. I especially love the idea of acting out the best love scenes from sexy romances. I'm trying it! Great read do buy Scavone's Love by the Book!
I found Love by the Book hilarious. Parts of this book are flat out hysterical and had me laughing out loud! I love the main characters and the way they interact together. I found them incredibly believable and relatable. The storyline held my interest from start to finish and I really enjoyed the author's writing style.

The writing is very well done- especially for a first time author. In my reviewing experience first time books are often riddled with mistakes and that certainly was not the case with Love by the Book.

This is an easy to read, all-around fun romance novel that I am happy to recommend!
Jennifer Taylor's fairytale marriage to Jack has hit a rut and their life doesn't seem to have worked out the way they had planned it to. Now 4 kids later Jenny is desperate to spice up her love life with Jack by recreating scenes from her favorite books.

When one of her best friends suggests blogging about how the dates go Jenny agrees but when Jack finds out will they be able to get through the aftermath?

For me the book started off a little slow and then it got good and I didn't want to put it down. The book was so funny in how wrong everything seemed to go and it really makes the reader feel like they are not alone with their own struggles that they may or may not be having in their own lives.

Jenny is awesome for trying to get her love life with Jack back on track and honestly I just loved how everything went wrong but they still tried and in the process spent more time together. Jack obviously worked super hard to provide for his family and wasn't there all the time like he wanted to be.

I hated Jack's mom and thought she was so intentionally cruel to Jenny as was Mrs. Crammersten. Yet they definitely provided Jenny with some strength in overcoming what she was up against.

I was definitely worried towards the end of the book yet knew something was up after Krista's conversation with Jenny. Loved the ending of the book!

Great read!
